The NI engineer has advised that splicing has been completed on the south end and the splicer is moving to the north side to assist. The 48 count fiber cable is just about to be pulled into position. Both splicers will prepare the ends to restore services as efficiently as possible

The NI engineer has advised that crews continue to pull the replacement cable into position. Once the fiber is set, splicers will commence with fiber preparation work.

Technicians are pulling mule tape to begin placement of the new fiber section. Mule tape is a high strength, flat woven polyester tape used by fiber technicians to pull cable through conduit and is designed to reduce conduit damage. Once fiber placement is complete, the Splicing Team will begin cable preparation and splicing

Update
Approximately 1,170 feet of replacement cable will be required. On-site technicians were unable to locate slack cable at the site. Upon completion of repairs, the Splicing Team will install a steel riser protector over the area where the conduit was cut to provide additional fiber protection. Construction and Splicing Teams are en route and are expected to arrive at approximately 10:30am,

Field personnel have accessed the site, and technicians have located the damaged cable segment on the east side of the railway crossing. Technicians are assessing available slack to determine readiness for repair activities. No ETR given.

The NI engineer has reported that splice access will not be granted to a splice point as it is located near a railroad track and requires access. The event will be placed on safety hold until access to the site has been granted by the railroad. The next update will be communicated once access to the site has been granted and field personnel can commence with isolation efforts

that personnel have arrived in the area of the suspected but have been unable to locate and physical damage. Personnel are working with personnel at the Gray Summit site. Light is being projected out so that personnel at the splice site in the field are able to locate the correct fibers.
